Custom Wood Furnishings for Home or Office

Barrister Street Project

The Barrister Street house in Alexandria.

A local contractor has undertaken the renovations of a lovely house on Barrister Street in Alexandria. He chose Precision Woodworks to do all the cabinets and wood trim in the house. The goal was to restore the house to as close to the original as possible while introducing a few new features that would make it easy to live in. No additions should take away or deviate from the original designs. Below you'll see several of the projects we worked on.

This molding was created in our shop to match the existing molding in the house. Note the curved top. The molding is "fluted" meaning it has "channels" running through it. The molding is around a bookcase next to the fireplace. Molding

Barrister Street mantel This is the  wraparound mantel for the fireplace in the main room. Note the raised panels and decorative shelf at the top. (In these pictures the molding and mantels are not painted yet. They have their first primer coat on.)

Barrister Street Kitchen Barrister Street Kitchen
This is the kitchen of the Barrister Street House. All the cabinets were built in our shop and transported for installation. The cabinet tops are not installed yet but notice the range hood as well as the very top level of cabinets that has glass doors. In the picture on the left you can see the desk that sits in front of the windows, at the end of the cabinets. Its matches the cabinets in every way.
This is a recessed pantry that was built into the wall. As you'll notice in the pictures below it has LOTS of room for storage. And yet it takes up no space in the kitchen itself. The doors match the cabinets and island. pwbarstpantry1.jpg (11462 bytes)
Here you can see how large the pantry really is. You can tell how deep the pantry is by looking at the size of the top cabinet and bottom drawer. In the middle is a set of shelves on hinges that rotates outward. (See picture below.) pwbarstpantry2.jpg (16763 bytes)
Here André demonstrates how the center set of shelves rotates on hinges, making the main set of shelves easily accessible. The hinged shelves are designed to hold canned goods. pwbarstpantry3.jpg (18233 bytes)

We hope you've enjoyed the tour of the Barrister Street house. Whether you're remodeling, renovating or building a new construction, let us help make your dreams become reality!
